The GMAT(GraduateManagement Admission Test) is a computer-adaptive standardized test in mathematics and the English language for measuring aptitude to succeed academically in graduate business studies.
The Graduate Management Admission Test assesses a person’s analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills in standard written English. This test is taken in preparation for being admitted into a graduate management program, such as MBA and Masters in Finance related courses.
Being a computer adaptive test and not a computer based test, the candidate will get one question at a time and depending on the accuracy of the previous answer, the difficulty level of the next question will be ascertained. The average scores required for universities abroad varies; top tier universities require at least 710, while middle tier universities accept 600. Business schools commonly use the test as one of many selection criteria for admission into an MBA program.

The test tends to evaluate one’s Critical Thinking, Analytical Writing Abilities,English Language Skills, and Problem Solving Ability through itsVerbal Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude sections.
The GMAT registration process is flexible; one can enroll in it at any point of time. GMAT is available throughout the year, with no registration or last dates criteria. The test score can be cancelled; one can retake the test after 16 days from the test appeared date.
The GMAT score is valid for five years and is widely accepted by more than 2,100 universities and institutions in more than 5,900 programs offered.
The Graduate Management Admission Council has shortened the GMAT exam by 30 minutes which will be effective from 16 April, 2018. The new exam will be of 3 hours and 30 minutes including test instructions and breaks.
